Drayton Manor High School, formerly Drayton Manor Grammar School, is an academy school located in Hanwell, West London, England. The school was granted academy status in August 2011. Its emblem is a phoenix rising from a crown with the legend 'Nec Aspera Terrent', which means 'hardships do not deter us'. == History == Drayton Manor High School was opened in 1930 as a county grammar school and following the reorganisation of schools in the Borough of Ealing it received its first comprehensive intake in 1974. The school became Grant Maintained in 1992 and in 1993 admitted its first Year 7 students as the school became 11-18 following abolition of Middle Schools, by the Borough. Following changes in legislation the school became a Foundation School in 1998. The school held Beacon School status from July 2000 until it became a Leading Edge school in July 2003. It won the School Achievement Award for Excellence for each of the three years it ran. In 2004 our Head, Sir Pritpal Singh, was recognised as the Headteacher of the Year for London.
